Apparently he was the graphics hardware guy at Solborne at least for their clone cards as he did a large part of the work on the bwtwo etc...

It is also worth nothing that all sparcs have the same instruction length of 32bits... something I didn't initially realize as I thought 64bit sparcs had 64bit length. The main difference with 64bit sparc is 64bit pointers .... it would have been nice if there were a mode where you could thunk in and out of direct mapped register files. Making it more like MIPS... and less dated and potentially easier to pipeline.
PPC64 is that way also (32-bit instruction words, but 64-bit pointers and registers). Dan Julio was very helpful actually during the writeup. He was amused by me upgrading my S3000 with the L2+CPU from a S4000DX ("S4100") to make an "S3000DX."

I still have to get out that Series 5. There is not enough time before death and dying.
