SGI: Development

New package: XScreensaver 5.30

Sent a new XScreensaver to /incomming.

This version pulls in all of the patches from the previous versions and incorporates the 5.10 XDM locking patch.

I don't think the XScreensaver in /current can even be installed at this point (?) due to impossible-to-meet dependencies.

I sent new versions of neko_xscreensaver and neko_rssglx into /incoming.

The previous versions I sent are junk.

New versions --

neko_rssglx-1.9.1-r1.tardist

Hey -- I'm learning, and /incomming is "beta", right?

The previous rssglx had binaries permissioned as my user and the xscreensaver was built without SGI X extensions.

Did you include skyrocket from rss? On my V12 equipped 600MHz Octane2 skyrocket drops something like 19 out of every 20 frames...

It's the whole package, and there is a new saver, Pixel City.

It ran great on that old infinitereality onyx of mine which you poo-pooed because it was so old (1995). Ok, not 60hz but it could easily hang at 30 or 20 most of the time.

ISTR The only one it really struggled with was hyperspace.
You eat Cadillacs; Lincolns too... Mercurys and Subarus.
They all work really good on my V12 Octane with the exception of Lorenz which is a real pig.

Seriously? On the root window? At what resolution? Because my Linux box and my Octane are both circa-1994, both dual processor, both using (what was then) state of the art graphics (Nvidia GForce 5700 w/256 meg RAM vs. V12 w/128 meg RAM) both running at 1600x1200, and the difference in smoothness is dramatically better on my Linux box... :|

2x 600 Octane here and it works perfectly. Definitly nothing like 19/20 dropped frames - just (very) slight studder when alot of fireworks go off at once.

Sent the xscreensaver 5.32 and rss-glx update to /incomming.
