I remember browsing the SGI website years ago (probably sometime around 1999), and remember them having a section with wallpaper downloads. One of them was a really cool picture of a large metal gear with some subtle rainbow lighting. Does anyone happen to have a copy of these wallpapers or even remember them?

Not something I remember myself, but try having a look on Wayback machine. They've got cached versions of SGI's site going back to the 1990s, so maybe you can find the section again and the pictures that they had.
